Here are two more Rotary Trumpets that came through the shop recently.  In the first set of pictures, you see the keys from one of them.  There was an excessive amount of play in the mechanical linkages that caused quite a bit of noise.  To correct the problem, which is quite common on this type of mechanical linkage, I drilled out the holes to .125", brazed in a 1/8" brass rod, filed it flat, and re-drilled the holes to match the size of the screws on the stop arms.

The next set of pictures shows the key rest from the other Trumpet.  One side of it had cracked, but both pieces were still present, so I cleaned all the solder off of them, cut a piece of brass sheet to use as a patch, brazed it on, and then reshaped it so the repair is virtually invisible.  The crack is circled in the second picture from the left on the bottom row.  The silver solder is slightly visible on the polished surface in the picture on the bottom row, third from the left.  As with the other Rotary Trumpet key rest repair in the Photo Gallery, the repair is well hidden under the key mechanism and most people will probably never notice it.  That's just the way I like it.
